Nikon Coolpix Series Review
Nikon Coolpix is the kind of point-and-shot digital cameras produced by Nikon which is represented by four series in the market.
It consists of compact and user-friendly cameras combining advanced imaging technologies with good performance and easy operation. The main representatives of the Life family are models L23, L24, L 120 and L810. The L810 is characterized by Image stabilized 26x zoom and 22.5 mm wide-angle capability that allow to photo scenes, ideal for shooting close-ups of distant objects and landscapes.
Lens-shift vibration reduction and the function of motion detection in L810 help to take blur free pictures.
The camera has lots of modes making the process of taking photos easy. Easy Auto Mode chooses the most convenient setting for the scene automatically. The menu also includes Smart Portrait, which offers Blink Proof, Smile Timer, Skin Softening and Red-eye Fix.
It is also possible to take photos in 3D mode and watch them on a 3D TV. The records of 720p HD videos with optical zoom are available during recording and the camera can be connected to a HDTV via HDMI. This series also features best shot selector (BSS), AA-size batteries, 16 megapixel CCD sensor, 3.0 inch 921k-dot LCD screen.
The current models of performance Series are p300, P500 and P510. The COOLPIX P300 camera works with a 4.2x wide angle and F1.8 maximum aperture NIKKOR glass lens. This model like all the others of this series has the fastest lens that has ever been designed into a COOLPIX camera. Thus, P300 offers a 24-100mm optical zoom range as well as telephoto performance for taking razor-sharp images. Its maximum aperture of F1.8 performs low-light results and minimum depth of field.
The Coolpix P500 is equipped with 36x wide-angle optical Zoom Nikkor ED glass lens. It offers the longest zoom ever built in Coolpix cameras. Its shooting range of a super wide-angle varies from 22.5mm to 810mm equiv. Its key features are a 3.0" tilting LCD with 921,000k dot resolution, better low-light photography, 12.1-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor. P500 offers 1080p Full HD movie recording capability operated with one-touch.
Nikon Coolpix "Style" Series whose models are marked with the letter “S” are cameras of mid-range category defined by the shape of sophisticated style. The models of this series (s3100, s 6100, s8110 etc.) provide consumers with innovative and entertaining functions. Users can make the best of long zooms, advanced flash controls, speedy performance, touch-screen technology, and advanced high resolution LCD screens in stylish camera bodies.
All Weather Series
This series includes models AW 100 and Aw100s released in 2011. They have the same key features except GPS geotagging that is absent in AW 100 model. AW models are rugged enough to take pictures in extreme weather conditions like low temperatures (cold resistant to -10°C), a large amount of water (up to 10 mm) and hard drops (from 1.5m). Such features as 5x optical zoom lens and 16 MP CMOS sensor let capture perfect pictures both underwater and on ski slopes. The LCD (460,000 pixels) playbacks bright colors and sharp contrasts.
The AW100's is supplied with GPS and electronic compass. These functions are intended to organize the story of the excursion that is cataloged in the high-res photos or Full HD 1080p video. The camera's GPS works separately from video as well, so it can log camera owner’s location and record the route.
